Carbide Product Manager
SB Specialty Metals, a growth oriented leading supplier and distributor of Tool Steel, High Speed Steel, and Particle Metallurgy Steels is expanding its product offering to US Manufacturing by adding a full line of carbide products. B Specialty metals is recruiting an experienced individual to fill the position of Carbide Product Manager and champion our newest product offering.
Responsibilities and requirements:
- Ten plus years extensive experience in carbide products.
- An in-depth understanding of the carbide market, from cutting tools, to tool and die, including specific customer requirements.
- Generate competitive analysis and develop methods to promote and sell carbide products through SB Specialty Metals’ national Sales and Marketing Team.
- Work with sales and management to build a strategic roadmap for the growth of carbide products.
- Manage and support the development of our carbide program.
Position located in or near Troy MI, Vandalia OH, Meadville PA, or Chicago IL.
Outside Sales Representative
SB Specialty Metals offers an excellent career opportunity for a highly motivated, independent individual with career interests in technical steel sales.
The position is based in the Dayton, OH area and the sales territory includes geographic regions within Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.
The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for increasing topline revenue and the customer base within their territory. A minimum of 75% travel is expected for Customer visitation and business development.
The individual must enjoy working in a dynamic fast paced environment and have the desire & motivation for career advancement within the steel industry.
This individual must possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with Marketing or Business Major
- 5+ Years of Outside sales experience in the specialty steel industry (Preference will be given to individuals with specific TOOL STEEL sales experience)
- Computer Literacy
- Valid Driver’s license
- Ability to interact and team build with customers and colleagues.

Inside Sales Representative - Troy, MI
SB Specialty Metals offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, independent individual to work in our Troy, MI facility.
This position is responsible for quoting & entering orders for our existing customers and supporting our company’s outside sales team.
This position is a great opportunity to get “fast track” training in our constantly changing global environment. The individual must enjoy working in a dynamic fast paced environment and must possess the desire & motivation for career advancement within the Steel Industry.
Note: this is an exempt position with a guaranteed base pay. Additionally incentive is paid out by performance.
Responsibilities:
- Service existing accounts.
- Quoting and entering orders and checking stock at one of our 5 locations through our computer system.
- Working directly with our customers to help resolve any issues they may have by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by focusing on increasing product knowledge.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
This individual must possess the following qualifications:
- 3+ years customer service preferably in the Industrial sales arena.
- Minimum High School Graduate - Some college in a Business discipline preferred
- Computer Literacy
- Calm under pressure
- Data entry accuracy a must.

Saw Operator and material handler - Troy, MI - 2nd Shift
SB Specialty Metals LLC has an opening for a warehouse saw operator and material handling individual in our Troy, MI facility. This position will be responsible for the cutting of steel to order specifications and performing material handling duties.
This position is currently open for 2nd shift with training being held during day shift.
- The hours for 2nd shift are 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm Monday through Friday with a 30 min lunch.
- Starting pay is $21/hr with opportunity to earn an additional $2/hr based on pre-determined metrics.
CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND VERIFICATION AND MEDICAL PHYSICAL/DRUG TEST
Our qualifications are as follows:
- Minimum Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Preference given to candidates with Industrial warehouse experience, forklift and saw operation experience.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Familiar with decimals & fractions.
- Must have ability to measure & read instruments.
