Milestone anniversary marks 5 years of growth

Five years ago, SB International purchased the assets of Crucible Service Centers from the bankrupt Crucible Materials Corp. In 5 short years SB Specialty Metals has grown into one of the largest tooling alloy distributors in North America. SB Specialty Metals started with 10 warehouses and in 5 years has re-organized the company to 6 warehouses including the new 200,000 sq. ft. Dayton master distribution center. The growth has been phenomenal and the company has been profitable in 4 of the 5 years with 2014 posted as the best year to date in terms of profitability. In addition to building the business around commodity tool and high speed steel, SB Specialty Metals has introduced 5 new grades that offer tool makers improvements in tooling performance. SB is also a leading supplier of powder metal products sourced from leading producers. The company opened SB Specialty Grinding in 2013 to tackle difficult customer tolerances and will start outside conversion work in 2015. With a total of 7 centerless grinders and two bar straighteners, SB Specialty Grinding has become a valuable asset in differentiating SBSM from its competitors. Today, SBSM offers quality products at a competitive price. The company employs three full time metallurgists to offer technical support to customers and takes pride in a deep knowledge base with a contingent of very experienced team members.
